I aim to work with your body in the most easeful way possible.

Craniosacral Therapy. CST is my primary modality because it’s gentle, non-invasive, and effective.

Your craniosacral system is the environment in which your brain, spinal cord, and the rest of your central nervous system live and work. During a session, I’ll identify restrictions in your system: areas where fluid flow is dampened, and your nervous system isn’t getting all the support it needs. Using gentle pressure (usually no more than the weight of a nickel), I’ll help your body’s own self-corrective mechanisms restore normal function.

This system is deeply connected to your fascia, the continuous, web-like stocking of connective tissue that surrounds and supports all your muscles, blood vessels, nerves and organs. Because of this, CST provides you with a whole-body treatment, addressing every system and allowing it to unwind and release from the inside out.

Manual Lymph Drainage. Specific, gentle and effective work that encourages your body’s unique lymph flow, removing waste and congestion, and enhancing immunity. This work is wonderful for chronic injuries and post-surgical healing.

Body Awareness. Is your body mysterious to you? Do you want a clearer sense of your “edges”...of where you stop and the world begins? Maintaining a healthy awareness of your own body is the best way I know to manage stress. With gentle bodywork and simple exercises, I help you gain a solid sense of your body. People who work with me report that they feel more comfortable in their own skin, enjoy their bodies more, move with ease and confidence, have better coordination, and develop a clearer felt sense of their own wants and needs.

SomatoEmotional Release. Have you ever had a physical injury that seemed to plague you long after the site had healed? That’s not as unusual as you might think.

Simply put, sometimes parts of us get stuck in time. While we feel we’ve moved on from an accident or other challenging event, some of our tissues may have held on to the injury, pain, and emotion. Perhaps it was too much for the body to process then; perhaps there’s another reason. Regardless, what happens is our bodies take that unprocessed experience, that shock to the system, and wall it off, creating what’s called an energy cyst. The body then compensates and adapts to bypass that cyst, much like water moving around a boulder in a creek. Over time this gets tiring, taxing your system. Symptoms (pain, stiffness, lack of motion) become more difficult to suppress and ignore.

SomatoEmotional Release is your body’s way of bringing your whole self into the present moment. During a CST session, your body may choose to release an old holding pattern. It’s my job to recognize that moment, and gently work with your body and mind to release that pattern. I may encourage you to look into your body with your mind’s eye; we may work with your imagination. It’s not necessary to relive or analyze an experience to release emotion or trauma, and your body always leads the way.

Supportive Therapies. I am trained in several bodywork modalities, all of which I may use in your session, as your wishes and body dictate. These modalities include:
Myofascial Release: stretching the connective tissue at precise depths to realign and relieve your body’s tension patterns.
Acupressure and Shiatsu: based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine, these forms of bodywork aim to balance energy (qi) flow in the body.
Massage: superficial and deep work, always within your tolerance for pressure, to warm the tissues, enhance fluid flow, and relax the nervous system.
